In this post, I would like to share some of the ways that I find effective in clearing my mind and help keep me in a mindful state. Obviously there are many more other ways to clear your mind, but these are some of the ways that work for me and best of all, they are all simple and free.
Conscious Breathing
Breathing is such a fundamental part of our lives but we often neglected it because it comes so naturally to us. Most of us just think of it as a natural function of our bodies, but breathing, especially conscious breathing, can have so much more to it. It is a great tool to instantly release stress and anxiety. If you are one of those people whose mind seem to always wander when you are meditating, breathwork is for you!
I recommend watching Samantha Skelly’s video on how to clear anxiety and stress using breathwork techniques. I find that her techniques are really useful to immediately get rid of that knot I feel in my gut when I’m anxious or stressed.
If you just want something a little more basic, I find that consciously taking deep breathes during the day makes me feel more focused and relaxed. Just breathe in all the way through your nose, fill your lungs as much as you can, hold it for a few seconds, then exhale slowly through the mouth. You can feel the tension leave your body as you breathe out and you will feel so much calmer after that.

Move Your Body
Whether it be running, going to the gym, dancing or practicing yoga, the main goal here is to get that body moving. Exercising can improve the flow of energy through your body and increase your vibration. It will also increase flow of oxygen to the brain. Your mind will feel so much clearer and calmer after you exercise.
A silly little thing that I love doing is to dance around in my room to an upbeat tune. My recent favorite is Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk. Apart from getting my body moving, I love how it instantly lighten my mood.
Journaling
If you ever feel that your mind is messy and cluttered, journaling can be a great organizer for it. As you write out your thoughts, it’s easier to gain perspective, you will also have more clarity and direction. Journaling has been proven to be a great means of healing too. It promotes emotional and psychological healing, relieve stress, boost creativity and basically all the good stuff.
If you are into law of attraction, I suggest that you try out future journaling. This is also my favorite way of journaling. You would write a journal entry in present tense but for future events, events that you would like to manifest into your life through law of attraction. You can write just about anything, it can be your perfect life, your new house or even your new relationship.

Connect To Nature
As a part of the universe, we are all connected to our source in one way or another. Going back to our source, nature, can give us the peace, focus and alignment that we need. Going to the beach, taking a nature walk, or even just going to your garden and enjoy the sunlight will make you feel more refreshed and energized.
Meditation
I’m sure you’ve heard of all the benefits of meditation by now, so I will not go deep into it. Mediation is one of the best tools to help you calm your mind and raise your vibration. Being the beginner that I am in meditation, I much prefer guided ones than unguided ones because it’s easier to focus when you have something to follow. There are so many choices on YouTube and I usually choose whichever that stands out to me and sounds pleasant to my ears. I think it’s very important to follow your intuition because you are going to connect the vibration of the person that is reading out the meditation during your meditation. You would want to pick a script and a person that resonates with you so that you are able to focus better.

Unplug
It doesn’t matter if you are reading this on your phone, tablet or laptop, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives. There’s no doubt about the convenience that technology has brought us, but we need to unplugging from technology once in awhile can be beneficial for overall well-being.
I like to power off all my gadgets occasionally because I like the sense of calmness and freedom it brings. If you are one of those who lead a fast-paced lifestyle, try unplugging and do nothing once in awhile. Don’t feel guilty that you are doing nothing because you are actually recharging your battery. Experience the serenity and the liberation it brings, you will feel that your mind gets clearer and it’s easier for you to focus once you return to task.
Take Up A Creative Hobby
We are all born creative even if we think we are not. Now it’s the time to unlock the creative energy that is dormant in us. We often limit creativity to arts and crafts, music or maybe design, but in reality it’s so much more. It can be creative writing, solving a problem with a creative solution, or even running a unique business. It can be anything that requires you to use your imagination and turning your imagination into reality.
Creativity a passage for us to manifest our thoughts into our reality, turning something that is intangible into something we can see, touch or feel. Creating this blog is part of my creative outlet, it has helped me gain clarity and also build a bridge between the realm in my mind and my current physical realm. I’ve greatly benefited from having this creative outlet and I hope that through it, I am able to benefit some of you too.
Try Something New
I’ve came across quite a few articles or blog post that suggested that distraction can be good way of clearing your mind. I can’t say that I agree with that because I’m a believer that if have something on your mind, you’ll need to deal with it and not shove it aside. Distraction can be useful to lessen the stress at that moment but I don’t see it as a good solution in the long run.
Instead of distraction, I prefer trying something new to gain new perspective. I would explore something that I have never done before, or go somewhere I’ve never been before or even do something that I haven’t done in a long time. The fresh perspective will make you see your life in a different light and maybe even find the solution to your problem.
Here are some the new things I’ve tried lately, hope they are able to give you some inspiration:
Road trip
Toboggan ride
Try out a new recipe
Creative drawing
Picnic at the park
Oracle cards
Silva Ultramind Method
These are some of the beautiful photos I took during my trip. Enjoy!
Positive Affirmations
Positive affirmations are also known as scientific prayer. It’s a powerful tool for us to tap into our mind with the intention of creating higher vibrational frequencies. Whether we are aware of it or not, our thoughts are energy. Therefore, by changing the way we think, we are able to change our energy. When we set our intention using positive affirmations, we are able to increase our vibration of our thoughts. High vibrational energy attracts high vibrational experience, while low vibrational energy attracts low vibrational experience. By thinking positive thoughts, we will attract positive experiences into our lives.
Check out my previous post for Positive Affirmations that will help you attract more positive experiences into your life.
Gratitude
Last but definitely not least, is to practice gratitude. Gratitude is a fundamental element of self-love and a person’s well-being in general. Being grateful makes you appreciate and focus on the good things in your life. When you give the good things in your life attention, you will naturally attract more good things. It’s just a rule of universe, things of the same vibration will naturally attract each other. I’ve also talked about how gratitude can improve self-love in my 6 Ways to Start Loving Yourself Today post.
As you are reading this, take a few moments to give thanks for the things in your life that you are grateful for, no matter how small.

In this day and age, most of us lead a hectic lifestyle. There’s so much new information coming in everyday, we have so much on our plate, so much to get done, so much that is expected of us. I think it is very important for our well-being to disconnect from our reality once in a while, clearing out the negativity that messes with our minds and emotions.
I hope that you can give these techniques a try and let me know if you find them effective for you. If you have other techniques that you like, please also share them with me because I’m always interested in trying something new.
