I haven’t been blogging for awhile because I was feeling uninspired. I feel like I have to force myself in order to come out with contents which is not in alignment with my intention of starting this blog. I decided that I would take a break and only blog whenever I have something inspiring to share.

During these past months, I’ve been on a soul searching journey. I’ve been connecting with myself more than ever, building a relationship with myself. This is something that I never knew I needed. I am so used to looking for comfort, assurance and safety from the external world, i.e. my surroundings, my job, my friends and family, my circumstances and etc. However, I’ve came to the realization that searching within myself is the key to truly feeling safe, secure and fulfilled.

Today, I would like to share about my experience about meditation. I started meditating regularly roughly about 6 months ago during quarantine. I’ve never been one to meditate, I would always fall asleep and wandered off whenever I tried. This time around, I persisted. At first, it was really hard to concentrate, but as time progresses, it got easier and easier. However, the goal is not to get better at meditation, but to get better at life, I was told, and I have to say that it is so true!

Six month into regular meditation, I am by no means an expert. Honestly, I don’t even consider myself to be at an intermediary level. That is why, I am not here to share about how to meditate or anything technical, I am just here to share my experience. This is what happened after 6 months of regular meditation.

My Daily Routine Changed

I went from a person who sleeps in to a person who wakes up at 7 to meditate. Enough said.

Alertness and Mental Clarity

My concentration and memory have definitely improved since I meditated. I find myself to be more aware of my surroundings and therefore being able to perform my daily tasks better. I used to live in my head a lot, thinking about what I would do later in the day or planning about what I would wear tomorrow. I’m not saying that planning is a bad thing, but in my case, I live in my head more than I live in my reality and that is not a good thing.

Passion and Enjoyment

Another thing about being in the moment is that you start to enjoy your life more. If you asked me what I truly want or love in my life a year ago, I would definitely hesitate. Nowadays, I truly enjoy myself a lot more than I used to. I’m getting into little hobbies here and there, visiting places I’ve never been (safely of course) and trying new things out. That has made my life more interesting and more enjoyable as a whole. I starting to know myself at a deeper level and understand what I truly want in life.

No More Tensed Muscles & Bodily Aches

Moving into the more tangible part of my experience after meditation, I actually feel more healthy. I used to have a lot of tightness in my body especially my shoulder and my calf. Every time someone would massage me, they would comment about the stiffness on my shoulder/calf. About 3 months into meditation, I started to notice that my shoulder was no longer as stiff as they used to be. I was pretty amazed as I wasn’t anticipating any results from my meditation. I then started to realize more and more changes in my body, including better posture, less aches, longer and deeper breathes and many more. I am truly amazed at what meditation can do and I am still exploring its magic.

No More Period Pain

After I started meditation, I experienced less and less discomfort during my period. This might be a little TMI, but I used to wake up in the middle of the night for toilet trips but this condition has significantly improved recently. This is quite a significant change in my body that I can truly feel. Obviously, there are other changes to my diet and routine that may help improve my health in general, however, I started seeing these changes and results after I started meditating. You may argue that it’s all in my head, but all I can say is, try it for yourself!

If anyone has similar experiences or other interesting experiences through meditation, please share them with me, I would really love to hear your stories!
